Indian MP calls on the allies to oppose reforms

Trinamul Congress chief Minister and Indian Chief Mamata Banerjee yesterday appealed to the non-Congress United Progressive Alliance UPA allies to come and voice their protest against the Central Government "anti-people" decisions such as rise in diesel prices, fertilizer prices, limiting use of LPG cylinders, introduction of foreign direct investment in the retail sector, pensions and insurance.

Banerjee posted in a social networking site that "time is running out to voice protest against these issues."

"Can I ask the political parties to support the UPA-II to take stand in the interests of the ordinary people so anti decisions not be executed," she made the request on Facebook. She has also sought public opinion on these reforms.

Subrata Mukherjee, rural state and Panchayat Minister said: "the Congress trying to bring back the dreaded regime of indigo planters of the East India Company. Multi-brand retail chains such as Walmart will follow the same pattern to ruin the country agricultural economy. ''

A party insider said that the Trinamul Congress is the first political party to hold a protest rally Jantar Mantar in Delhi to protest against these matters and after her ministers from the Ministry in the Centre pulled out.

"Our party will post the Pujas similar rallies in Haryana and Lucknow. Banerjee, will join our movement for the first time outside Bengal about anti Affairs, '', said Mukul Roy, former Minister of railways.

Previously also Banerjee posted on Facebook asking people to protest against the Centre increase the price of LPG cylinders. She wrote that the price is likely to go up further in the coming months. This is a very sensitive issue. She asked: ' Is this what the ordinary people expect of reforms ''?

"The decisions are unethical and immoral. I'm told that more of such unpleasant decisions in the offing, '' Banerjee said.
