Indonesian designers find new methods to a fresh look at an ethnic woven fabric
Four Indonesian talented fashion designers shared the spotlight, exploring the unique, rich tissues of West Nusa Tenggara in about 60.
To open the show, exhibited increasing artisan in Islamic wear, Irna Mutiara, her latest designs for "Reneo by Irna Mutiara" that ethnic woven fabrics, known locally as tenun, from Lombok. Reneo is an Indonesian premium brand initiated by the Ministry of industry, which is focused on the international market in the hope of following the brand Zara of Spain.
Within 15 parts of its collection for women, law Treasure Trove Irna explores the priceless Lombok woven fabric and finds new methods to a fresh look at the substance.
Irna plays with layers for her all covered workshops, combine between full-featured tissues and modernized in pretty pastel colors of indigo, Maroon, pink and Brown to name a few — all using natural colors.
"I started making this collection a year ago as part of my work in the support of local weavers. I fell in love when I first saw the pattern and the quality of the fabrics, "said Irna, who is a member of the Association of Indonesian fashion designers (APPMI).
In a simple 3-piece of inner top long sleeves, a diagonal line-pattern jacket and a sarong in brown color palette combines Irna the thick-woven traditional woven fabric with a modern-woven sarong.
"I have asked a more light and flexible version of the tissues and it gives indeed a fresher look for such traditional material, and automatically cut the production costs," said Irna, who dream of tenun as popular as making batik.
Another Irna look presents the modernized woven fabric in pale pink as an accent over a long sleeve top in grey and harem pants in cream color. A beautiful rattan handbag labels on your outfit.
In the most fashionable way applied Dwi Iskandar bright tones without loss of manhood in his collection.
Inspired by the Middle East fashion, Dwi, under restart theme, showcased a modern style cutting for men that is easy and comfortable to wear, mixed with the traditional appearance of the West Nusa Tenggara woven fabric.
DWI the collection included also a trendy long sleeve shirts in green and orange colors, dark orange rolled up pants, simple red pipe pants in tenun motif and trendy long Cardigan.
"I'm really inspired with the clothing style of Middle Eastern people, but I made some adjustment to satisfy our own tradition. This is a collection of modern ethnic for the young people.
"I apply hand-stitched t-shirts to mix with the colorful items," says Dwi, which also used red, yellow, gray and black in the color palette.
Epoel Daeng Hasanung featured colorful men's collection. The designer seemed to enjoy mixing and matching the heavy look of West Nusa Tenggara woven fabrics with casual yet adventurous jeans bottom.
In a look, all-woven fabric made long Cardigan with a pattern of vertical line, were colorful inner and scarf compared with
a simple few pencil jeans.
Later, Epoel combined indigo colored jacket and inner with motif with grey jeans. In the other, the designer mix-matched shirt in bright color with pastel-toned jacket and jeans.
After some trendy men appearance presented Linda Hamidy Grander her Glamourous Tale collection.
The collection is indeed glamourous as Linda red with a motif in gold in a long dress plus jacket draped curtain combines.
A slimmer appearance, Linda the woven fabric applied to short sleeve top and the horizontal line pattern on pants — all in combination of Orange and black colors.
The rest Linda collection was in the form of a shoulders calf length dress, capes, free Pocket dress and sleeveless top, with colors are orange, red, purple, pink and black.
"I'm tissues from the eastern part of Lombok use because I'm inspired by the motives of the tissues. Those motives can be so modern to me, "says Linda.
"All items in my collection tins are from the past, that from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s — that's why I call it Glamorous story."
