China and Japan have welcomed the announcement of the Nepalese Constituent Assembly election date, and pledged support to the polls.
A statement issued by the Chinese Embassy said that as a friendly neighbour, China supported the constitution-making process in Nepal and hoped that the Constituent Assembly election will be held in a smooth way.
The Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu also welcomed the poll date on behalf of the government of Japan.
“The Embassy of Japan hopes that the election and its process will be held peacefully, in a free and fair manner and without any further delay in a spirit of cooperation of all the stakeholders.
The government and people of Japan are ready to assist Nepal’s effort to this end.”
