Boost for Chinese education in M'sia

Chinese national-type secondary schools in Malaysia will get a 30 million ringgit (US $ 9,83 million) grant next year, promised Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

This comes on top of the 100 million ringgit assigned to Chinese elementary schools under the budget for the next year.

Whereas education is one of the four areas of great concern for the Chinese community, said Najib that Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, he with the grant, who is also the Minister of education had discussed.

"This is our way of Fair," he said in his speech at the 59th Annual General Assembly of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA).

There are 78 Chinese national-type schools in the country with more than 125,000 students.

Najib assured the community that Chinese schools always part of the education system of the country would like "this is the decision of our founding fathers was".

"We are the only nation in Southeast Asia where Chinese education part of national education is," he said.

Najib also took note of the other three major concerns the economy, equitable and inclusive management and good governance.

He said that the country's economy was on the upswing, adding that a major announcement on the ease of doing business in Malaysia would be made next week.

Najib said that he the community need for a just and fair Government understood. "Everyone wants a better and promising future."

On good governance said Najib that this was addressed in the budget 2013 as well as under the Government programme transformation, which had provisions for combating crime, combating corruption and provide good public transport.

He also took political coalition of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat to task for not having any plan for the country, although they harp on acquisition of Putrajaya, the federal administrative center of the cuontry.

"They do not have something further than taking over the Prime Minister post and the takeover of the Government," he added.

"They don't have an agenda that can bring the country to greater heights. Like what MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said: they are consistently inconsistent.

"That is why we must not gamble away the future of the country. We have worked so hard to build the country.

"We're not going to sacrifice what we have done," he said.

Najib said, unlike the ruling Barisan Nasional Coalition Wijnand, that had a clear roadmap and plans for the future of the country, such as the various transformation programs that were showing results.

Najib also sounded the election war drums by MCA praised for his high spirits and prepared for the polls.

He praised Dr Chua speech for his "fiery and firing from all cylinders ', adding that everyone ranks close, loyal and works hard to ensure Barisan of victory.
