Car bomb, shootings claim lives in south Thailand

A carbomb was set off behind Narathiwat's Reu Soh police station yesterday evening, killing at least three people and injuring six others, while two others were injured by a motorcycle bomb at Ban Yaba School. The two bombs occurred at 6pm yesterday.

Meanwhile, a former kamnan of tambon Thanon in Ma-Yor in Pattani was shot dead and his wife wounded yesterday.

Asi Hama, 63, was driving a bike with his wife Koriyoh Hama, 61, riding pillion in Ban Duwa Ville when two gunmen on another buje shot at them, before fleeing with Asi's pistol. Asi was hit three times in the head and pronounced dead at hospital. His wife was slightly injured after falling off the motorcycle.

Suspected insurgents also shot dead a worker on a rubber plantation in Narathiwat’s Si Sakhon district early yesterday.

Police found the body of Sulaiman Kuning, 51, with two gunshot wounds to the torso at 4.30am at the plantation in Ban Ai Teu Ngor Moo 5. They collected two spent bullets at the scene.
