India transfers terrorist to Pakistan via Colombo

A terrorist wanted in Pakistan has been deported to Sri Lanka, on a flight from Chennai, after Andhra Pradesh police found him living in a remote village near Cuddapah for the past seven years, without a valid visa, The Hindu quoted airport sources as having said.

Based on an Interpol alert, 34-year-old Nissar Ahmed, who had fled Pakistan and entered India, through Sri Lanka in 2006, was detained by Andhra Pradesh police on May 6 and taken to Chennai on Wednesday morning after being produced in a Cuddapah court, according to the report.

As he had no visa, Ahmed was sent by a Jet Airways flight to Colombo, from where he had arrived here seven years ago, the Chennai datelined online report quoted official as having said.

Police informed the Colombo airport officials about his deportation, they said, adding that Sri Lankan officials would hand him over to their Pakistani counterparts.
