The disgruntled 33 fringe political parties in Nepal, including the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist) have demanded that President Ram Baran Yadav resign from his post.
They parties said the president has repeatedly acted in breach of the constitution of which he is the protector.
In his latest act of breaching the constitution, President Yadav has appointed controversial former Chief Secretary Lokman Singh Karki to head the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the parties argued.
Speaking at a sit-in organised outside the President's Office in Sheetal Niwas, CPN-Maoist Vice Chairman CP Gajurel said they asked for the resignation of the president because he could not live up to his stature. He added that the president has been taking a series of wrong decisions.
He informed that the disgruntled parties will announce phase-wise protests against the president and the unconstitutional government led by Khil Raj Regmi.
