The Taiwanese superstar will perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as part of his Opus Jay 2013 World Tour.
It took just 21/2 hours on Tuesday, February 19, to sell all 17,000 tickets to Taiwanese singer Jay Chou's concert here over two nights in June.
The organiser also announced that a third night will be added to Chou's stop here, on June 6, preceding the earlier scheduled dates on June 7 and 8.
Ticket sales for the newly announced date will begin next Tuesday at 10am for M1 customers and OCBC cardmembers. Tickets are priced at S$108, S$148, S$178, S$208 and S$238.
Chou, 34, will perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as part of his Opus Jay 2013 World Tour.
Priority sales began yesterday at 10am, also only for M1 customers and OCBC cardmembers. But all tickets were sold.
A spokesman for concert organiser Multimedia Entertainment says: "M1 customers and OCBC cardmembers cover a large base. Anyone with an M1 phone, tablet or latest bill can buy tickets. Those who do not have an OCBC card got their friends or family members to buy for them."
She added that the 17,000 tickets - 8,500 tickets each night - were sold out by 12:30pm.
Fans reported slow access to ticketing agent Sistic's website and telephone hotlines.
Project manager Shirlyn Lam, 29, who went to the Sistic outlet at Asia Square, says: "I went to queue at 9:30am and there were about 20 people in front of me. I tried calling in and going online while queuing but couldn't get through.
"I queued for four hours before I got my tickets. The Sistic system was slow and I had to keep refreshing the page. I wanted to get a pair of category two tickets at S$238 each, but there were not many left, so I got category four tickets at S$178 each."
A Sistic spokesman says: "We managed ticket sales successfully, with both shows selling out within 21/2 hours, and customers buying tickets through all channels - box office, at authorised agents and through the website and mobile app.
"Some people may have experienced slower than usual transactions, as the system managed such a heavy demand.
"We had about 100 people queuing at the Sistic box office at Singapore Indoor Stadium when sales opened this morning at 10am. The earliest fans came last night at about 6pm.
"Calls were non-stop at the call centre and online traffic was functioning at high capacity even before ticket sales started at 10am."
Chou performed here most recently in September last year, at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, and his last tour stop here was in 2010, when he performed sell-out shows on three nights. He released his 12th and latest album, Opus 12, last December.
Lam, who also attends K-pop concerts, says getting tickets for Chou's gig was much harder than K-pop shows.
The diehard fan, who has followed Chou for 12 years, says: "He appeals to all ages, while mostly young people like K-pop. I am very tempted to go for the third night and I want to buy S$238 tickets."
